Meet the 4J Lamp, a luminous object that sits between design piece and artwork.
Carefully conceived and produced in the Netherlands, the lamp is inspired by organic structures in nature: the flowing rhythm of shells, the soft growth of mushrooms, and the layered patterns of wood grain. Before arriving at its final form, the design evolved through extensive experimentation with paper and textiles. The chosen solution was to fully 3D-print the lamp using PLA, a sustainable bioplastic made from renewable natural resources such as corn starch and sugar beet.
The surface features a refined texture that subtly resembles woven fabric, giving the lamp a warm, tactile appearance even though it is precisely printed. Elegant brass legs lift the form from the surface and can be easily removed for recycling or replacement.
With its compact size - approximately 16×16×26 cm (L×W×H) - the 4J Lamp works beautifully as a bedside lamp, accent light, or sculptural object in a living space. The lamp comes ready to use, including plug and light-bulb (max. 25W).
The design carries a personal story: it was created around the birth of my daughter, Jonna. The name For Jonna Lamp was eventually shortened to 4J Lamp, a small tribute captured in light.
